The Seelos Icon for St John the Baptist Church,Savage,USA has been begun by artist Nick Markel.Parish Priest,Father Mike Tix said " It's exciting to see the pictures and the work progressing."The icon on St Kateri is also moving forward as can be seen below

ST MARY'S ASSUMPTION BELL TOWER APPEAL-SEELOS SHRINE CHURCH
The last church where Blessed Seelos served as a priest was St Mary's Assumption in New Orleans.The National  Seelos Shrine which contains the mortal remains of Blessed Seelos is also located there.More information about the appeal can be found on the church website.

The cross that proudly sat atop it for 150 years was shattered several years ago by lightening and is now gone.

The centre piece of the original cross is now located in Füssen,birthplace of Blessed Seelos (Top right hand corner of photo)

BLESSING OF NEW SEELOS SHRINE IN ST MANG BASILICA FÜSSEN

During the 1800hrs Mass to celebrate the Feast of Blessed Francis Xavier Seelos,the new Shrine was blessed.Dean of Marktoberdorf,Parish Priest of Füssen,Father Frank Deuring blessed the new shrine in its location at the back of the basilica.

During his sermon Father Deuring made mention of the life of the Blessed who was born in Füssen and how he always put our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ at the centre of his life.The bidding prayers used during the Mass were taken from among the many thousands of pilgrim petitions which are placed at the shrine during the year.After Mass a gospel group called "Voice Net from Reutte school of Music in Austria gave a concert in honour of Füssen's own Blessed.

AUSTRALIA'S 24 HOUR CATHOLIC RADIO STATION FEATURES BLESSED SEELOS

Cradio,based in Sydney,Australia has been broadcasting since it was founded in 2010 by  Bishop Julian Porteous.It is the only service of its kind in the nation.On 5th October 2013 the station chose Blessed Francis Xavier Seelos as its "SAINT OF THE DAY".This is a 2.5 minute broadcast about one of the saints which is aired daily.To hear the broadcast about Blessed Seelos please click HERE

SEELOS HEALING MASS IN NEW ORLEANS

The Seelos Healing Mass is celebrated 3 times a year at St Mary's Assumption Church in New Orleans,where the National Shrine Of Blessed Francis Xavier Seelos can be found.On 6th October at 1300hrs the Archbishop of New Orleans,Gregory Aymond was principle celebrant.Initial reports from Father Byron Miller,Executive Director of the National Seelos Shrine told us,"Archbishop Aymond of New Orleans did a fine job at the Seelos Mass and the crowd was quite pleased! "  

FÜSSEN SEELOS SHRINE MOVING TO ANOTHER PART OF ST MANG BASILICA

Anyone who has visited the Basilica of St Mang in Füssen,Germany will know that as you enter the church from the porch,on your right hand side you immediately see the Shrine of Blessed Francis Xavier Seelos.

As we reported 3 years ago the Shrine is going to be moved.At first it was going to be given a prominent position beneath the choir loft.However it has now been decided to move it to beside the door leading to the organ loft and next to the Altar of St Michael directly opposite the rear porch entrance.

The original Shrine was only meant to be temporary when it was erected by the then Parish Priest,Monsignor Karlheinz Knebel.It will be moved during the Seelos Feast day Mass here in the Basilica at 1800hrs Saturday 5th October 2013.

Some of the reasons given for the move include the fact that when Mass is in progress people come into the Basilica and distract those attending Mass despite the fact that one of the Altar Servers is always designated to close the front door and lock it at the beginning of Mass!

Many years after the bell tower and cross was struck by lightning the Parish in New Orleans is finally trying to raise the money to repair it.

SEELOS PROJECT IN ST JOHN THE BAPTIST CHURCH,SAVAGE,MINNESOTA

 Our priest at John The Baptist Catholic Church in Savage, MN, Fr Mike Tix, recently announced an effort to celebrate and educate the parish on the topic of the Communion of Saints.  As part of the project, we will be commissioning the creation of a 5 foot tall icon of Blessed Father Seelos which will adorn the right of our alter.  World renown iconographer, Nicholas Markell, has been selected to create this sacred work of art. It is anticipated that this project will take 6 months to complete, and will include a communication plan involving the print and TV media.A link to an article /video just published by the University of St Thomas on work they recently commissioned as well as the process of writing an icon.
