BLESSED FRANCIS XAVIER SEELOS LIVED IN THIS HOUSE IN FÜSSEN

(14 June 2021)

In 1830 when Francis Xavier Seelos was 11 years old his father, Mang became sacristan of St Mang Church. With the job came the house opposite the church which is now Magnusplatz 8. This was a great help for the family who had previously lived in very cramped conditions in a house in the Spitalgasse.

Without giving away to much private information we take you inside the house to show the views the family could see from the second floor.

Just inside the entrance steps leading to the 2nd floor. Inside the house itself

Views from inside the 2nd floor of the house.

Our thanks to Father Joshi Sebastian Valikulath MCBS, our Indian curate here in St Mang Parish who allowed us to take the photos from the flat he now lives in.

SEELOS BAPTISMAL FONT(1 JUNE 2021)

Font where Blessed Francis Xavier Seelos was baptised 11th January 1819. It is located in the baptistry at the rear of St Mang Basilica Füssen, Germany.

Many visitors flow through the doors of St Mang Basilica daily. They stare at the magnificent organ at the rear of the Church and many find their way to the baptistry which can be found by going down the steps which can be found below the organ and upper level of the basilica.

On descending the steps the first thing to meet the eye is the marble Baptismal font. It was here on 11th January 1819 that Blessed Francis Xavier Seelos was baptised.

The marble which was used to make the font was quarried 7.7 kilometres away on the far side of the Weißensee below the Weißenseeberg. It was moved across the lake when it froze over in the winter by the poor farmers living in the area who were forced to do it..

The poor local farmers were forced to move the quarried marble across the Weißensee at this point when it was frozen during winter.

Fr. Gil Enderle, C.Ss.R. Vice-Postulator of Seelos Cause RELEASED THE FOLLOWING STATEMENT

(22 MAY 2021)

A REPORT on "WHERE WE STAND" THE CASE OF CARSON JOSEPH COYLE, METAIRIE, LA.

Many of the devotees of Blessed Seelos will remember the startling case of Carson Joseph Coyle. He is the young child who, when born in New Orleans in early March 2019, was not expected to live more than six hours. He had a severely damaged and bleeding brain, the result of his traumatic birth experience. His family invoked Our Lord through Blessed Francis Xavier Seelos. Moreover, one of our designated "Seelos Blessers," Louisiana State Judge Dennis Waldron, went to the hospital to bless Carson with a relic and cross of Blessed Seelos. Young Carson is now is just past age two...walking, running, smiling and mischievous. I've had the privilege of seeing him as exactly such! Also, I have been allowed to study the medical data of his official diagnosis, which sounds like Greek: Ischemic Hypoxic Encephalopathy. It means that at birth he had suffered brain damage caused by oxygen deprivation and limited blood flow. In my role as "Vice-Postulator" for the Cause for Sainthood of Blessed Seelos I have charted and summarized this medically unexplainable event, and translated it into a brief document in Italian. Then, more recently, I have sent this report to the "Official Postulator" of the Causes of Saints at Vatican Offices in Rome, namely, my fellow Redemptorist Father Antonio Marrazzo. Father Marrazzo, in turn, gave my summary to his Roman Medical Doctor Consultant. Back came their preliminary opinion: that I (Father Enderle) was definitely to expand the testimony into a "fullcase presentation." Or, as I put it, I was given a "greenlight" to move forward with a much enlarged and documented presentation for consideration by the Congregation for the Causes of Saints. Accordingly, I am now assembling an enlarged and detailed presentation, using the official hospital records. This is where things stand at the moment. There is no guarantee of an ultimate Vatican declaration of "miracle." But we keep praying and hoping, as Blessed Seelos needs just one more such declaration of "miracle" through his intercession with the Good Lord.

SEELOS CENTER NOW HAS DEUTSCH SEELOS NOVENA AVAILABLE(18 MAY 2021)

Father Rich Boever informed us today that finally the German version of the Seelos Novena is available in the National Seelos Center in New Orleans. Although translated by Dr Miriam Rosenthal-English and published with a short biography by then Vicar General of Augsburg Diocese, Prelate Karlheinz Knebel(R.I.P.) in 2011, it has only been available in Germany till now.

The Seelos Novena was written by Father Byron Miller C.Ss.R.,Executive Director of the  National Seelos Center in New Orleans. When Deacon Fredl Hofmann and his wife, visited New Orleans with his son in 2009,they picked up a copy of the Novena in English.
During one of the meetings of the Parish Council of the Füssen Catholic Churches Partnership, Mrs Hofmann suggested it would be a good idea to translate the Seelos Novena into German. Father Frank Deuring, Parish Priest asked Dr. Miriam Rosenthal-English to undertake the work.

She completed the task in 2 months translating it free in her spare time, she forwarded it back to Father Deuring who then checked it for theological errors. The Novena was due to be printed for the 10th Anniversary of the Beatification of Blessed Seelos celebrations in Füssen during October 2010.

Translator:Dr.Miriam Rosenthal-English
50 copies were to be given away to see the need, unfortunatly due to technicalities the Novena never saw the light of day. When the origonal copy was translated, a curtesy copy was sent to Prelate Karlheinz Knebel, former Parish Priest in Füssen, who was then Vicar General of the Diocese of Augsburg.

Vicar General of Augsburg Diocese 2008-2010, 2010-2012:Prelate Karlheinz Kebel(R.I.P.) who
wrote a biography of Blessed Seelos to accompany the Novena and arranged for it to be published.
Prelate Knebel had a great love of Blessed Seelos and he made great efforts to see that Blessed Francis Xavier Seelos was better known and imitated, He was the one who was finally responsible for it coming to fruition he arranged for Dominus Verlag to publish it and asked
Dr.Rosenthal-English if she would mind if he went ahead and had the Novena printed. He has added a biography of Seelos which he himself had authoured and added photos and graphics. The Novena was checked by Father Deuring when in Füssen and also by the Diocesan Theologian,Dr. Peter C. Düren.Dr.Duren runs his own publishing firm

Father Byron Miller C.Ss.R. Executive Director of the National Seelos Shrine and Center in New Orleans in 2010 who is the origional author of the Seelos Novena.

Those living in Germany can buy it here from the publisher Dominus Verlag who kindly sent copies to the National Seelos Center in New Orleans!-https://shop.strato.de/epages/61306125.sf/de_DE/?ObjectID=6870077

"Due to the virus, we have had to cancel three Seelos Masses and our flow of pilgrims has diminished. This has greatly affected our donations. BREAKING NEWS FROM NEW ORLEANS(1 July 2021)

From the desk of Fr. Enderle: The Grant Rechen story

Page 3 Seelos Center News July 2021

On February 19, 2021, Edward and Paula Rechen came to the Shrine with their 14-year-old son, Grant, from Luling, Louisiana. Grant had been diagnosed with Galen Malformation, a rare blood vessel abnormality of misshapen arteries which connect directly with veins instead of connecting, as is normal, with capillaries. The capillaries help slow blood activity within the brain. With this condition, there results a rush of high-pressure blood into the veins. When the Rechen family arrived, they met with me for over an hour. They explained that Grant had already undergone 16 surgeries and had suffered two small strokes. I led the family in prayer with a first-class relic of Blessed Seelos.

I also blessed Grant and his family with the mission cross which Father Seelos carried in his ministry through the U.S. Our prayer was for a successful result in Grant’s upcoming surgery to be performed by specialists in New York City. Two weeks later, Grant was due to have his delicate brain surgery. On the day of the surgery, a phone call to the Shrine informed us that the surgery team had assembled for Grant’s surgery and discovered, to their amazement, that there was no need for surgery. There was no longer any evidence of the vein disorder. Praise God and Blessed Seelos!
